First a vigorous exercise is not a regular kind of thing or not included in our daily activities of living ( ADL). To achieve certain changes example like to increase muscle mass , improve cardiovascular endurance in our body the only way is to EXERCISE. Here the next point is what kind of exercises & howmuch of it we have to do to get the changes is very important. For example if you increase number of time your results were towards endurance / if you concentrated on weight it towards strength. So depends on your exercises only our body will respond and every time we doing exercises like a work rather than a rest our body needs ENERGY.

EVen to be at rest also we require / use some amount of energy is called Resting energy expenditure. So we require some more energy to do activities / exercises. So next question is how we get the required energy is through inhalation /O2 & our blood will circulate the oxygen all over the body will helps the cells to get the energy. This is the actual basic thing which behinds the all exercise / physical activities.

now come to the point of Vigorous exercise - any kind of high intensity exercises - in same way our body will started work for getting more & more energy as it is a vigorous / high intensity exercise. Here the main role is to our CARDIOPULMONARY SYSTEM which has to do work maximum to give the fuel...to restore the energy in a continue manner throughout the entire exercise time. So to get more oxygen have to inhale more TIDAL VOLUME..have to increase the store in lung ( have expand the lung more LUNG CAPACITY...have to clear co2 from lungs RESIDUAL) .

CONCLUSION : As our lungs has to give the fuel to the muscles (to continue their work) it works more & these works are very high in vigorous exercises and so it causes changes in all parameters of lungs.
