Answer #1

1. The energy of the energy levels are

E -R/n--(2.179 x 10-18J/n2 where n 1,2,3,4...6 Express your answers in 10-2 exponential form as a convenience for later caleu

2. a) The energy differences can be calculated as follows.

\DeltaE = E2 - E1 = [-54.48 -(-217.9) ] x 10-20 J = 163.42 x 10-20 J

\DeltaE = E3 - E1 = [-24.21 -(-217.9) ] x 10-20 J = 193.69 x 10-20 J

\DeltaE = E4 - E1 = [-13.61 -(-217.9) ] x 10-20 J = 204.29 x 10-20 J

\DeltaE = E5 - E1 = [-8.716 -(-217.9) ] x 10-20 J = 209.184 x 10-20 J

\DeltaE = E6 - E1 = [-6.052 -(-217.9) ] x 10-20 J = 211.848 x 10-20 J

Similarly you can calculate for 2.b) and 2.c)

3. using above answers you can calculate the values in the table.

If you get any doubt please comment. I shall help you.

4. The spectrum is as follows
