Answer #1

neutral atom has equal number of electrons and protons

atomic number represents number of proton whereas atomic mass is the sum of neutron+proton

hence number of neutron will be = atomic mass - atomic number

Zn(65) : its atomic number is 30. so it will have 30 protons; it is neutral so it also has 30 electrons and neutrons will be 65-30=35. so this option is FALSE

Mg2+(25) : its atomic number is 12. so it will have 12 protons; it is dication so it will have 10 electrons and neutrons will be 25-12=13. so this option is FALSE

Cl-(35) : its atomic number is 17. so it will have 17 protons; it is anionic so it will have 18 electrons and neutrons will be 35-17=18. so this option is TRUE

V(51) : its atomic number is 23. so it will have 23 protons; it is neutral so it also has 23 electrons and neutrons will be 51-23=28. so this option is TRUE

The nucleus of an atom consists of protons and neutrons (no electrons). A nucleus of a carbon-12 isotope contains six protons and six neutrons, while a nitrogen-14 nucleus comprises seven protons and seven neutrons. You perform a nuclear physics experiment in which you bombard nitrogen-14 nuclei with very high speed carbon-12 nuclei emerging from a particle accelerator. As a result of each such collision, the two nuclei disintegrate completely and a mix of different particles are emitted, including electrons, protons,...
