Fat clay can be defined as clay having the high plasticity. Lean clay has low to medium plasticity. In other words we can say fat clay has more clayey nature than lean clay. I mean clay having some content of silt, sand would decrease it's plasticity and also reduces it's clayey nature hence making the clay lean.
