Question

(20 POINTS) 10.) An ancient wooden club is found that contains 6.5 kg of carbon. When recently measured, there were 8.0 x 1013 atoms of C in the club. The decay constant for C is 3.835 x 10-12 decays per second Assuming the ratio of C to 1C atoms in living trees is 1.3 x 10-12, determine the age of the wooden club. Note that since the majority of the clubs mass made up of 12C (then and now), to find the original number of atoms you may estimate that the club only consists of 1C atoms. The mass of one C atom is 12 times the mass of a proton. Express your answer in years using 2 significant figures.
