Earlier dowry giving on marriage was considered a formalities as it was done between rich families where the family of girl send belongings along with her to the groom house. But, now dowry has become a social and serious problem as people aks for dowry prior to marrying a girl and it seems that they are not making relationship but they are doing deal by asking dowry from girl family.
It has become a serious social issue and government has already made illegal and punishable offense. In many cases, groom family has killed the girl for not fulfilling their money need. It shows that human greed has reched to it's extent.
