Answer #1

The bond formed between metal and non-metal is called an ionic bond.

Eg. NaCl, Here, Na+ is the sodium (metal) cation and Cl- is chlorine (non-metal) anion.

The bond formed between two non-metals is called a covalent bond.

Eg. PCl3, Here "P" and "Cl" both are non-metals.

Now, given compounds,

1) OCl2 = Oxygen and Chlorine are non-metals thus OCl2 contains covalent bond.

2) SiF4 = Silicon and fluorine are non-metals, thus SiF4 contains covalent bond.

3) AlCl3 = Aluminium is a metal and Chlorine is a non-metal, thus AlCl3 contains an Ionic bond.

4) CO2 = Carbon and oxygen are non-metals, thus CO2 contains covalent bond.
