The scatterplot gives the graphical representation of the association where we can easily describe the strength and direction of the relationship and we can spot any outlier if present. hence it is appropriate to model the relationship using a scatterplot.

There is a positive and moderate correlation between the two variables.

Direction: upward (positive)

s\Strength: moderate (r = 0.2 to 0.4 considers as moderate)

c)

The correlation coefficient is strongly affected by the outliers. It weakens the correlation coefficient (may also increase in some case)  value hence the researcher should be cautious in interpreting.

d)

The restricted range decreases the correlation coefficient value.

Since there are other factors that affect the agreeableness of a child, the researchers can not conclude that Duchenne smiles causes child agreeableness. The other factors of parent's behaviour such that responsiveness, nurturant parenting also affects the child's agreeableness.
