Question

Consider a single 5kg block of copper with a heat capacity of 384.6 anda initial steady state temperature of 45°C. It is desired to model the temperature T of this block of metal. Integrated within the block are two resistive electrical heaters. One of these heaters supplies energy at a fixed rate of 120w (0.5A, 240V). For the other, the voltage is fixed but the current may be manipulated thus providing energy at a rate of . 2401. There is also water flowing through holes in this block of metal at a rate of 0.005 resulting in a fixed rate of heat removal of 50W. Finally, due to physical contact with another block, which is at a fixed temperature of 30°C, heat is transferred to this block at a rate, which is proportional to the heat transfer coefficient Htf, area of contact Atf and difference in temperatures. It is give a value of Htf * Atf 10.5. kg°C
