Answer #1

Based on your given information and data :

Average Moles of Components per gram of compound :

  • H2O : 0.00593 mol/g
  • Oxalate (C2O42-) :   0.006465 mol/g
  • Fen+ : 0.004308 mol/g

mass of Components per gram of compound :

  • H2O : 0.00593 mol/g * 18 g/mol * 1g = 0.1067 g
  • Oxalate (C2O42-) :   0.006465 mol/g * 88 g/mol * 1g = 0.5689 g
  • Fen+ : 0.004309 mol/g * 55.85 g/mol * 1g = 0.2406 g

Since total mass = 1g

thus , K+ mass per 1 gram of compound : 0.0838 g

thus, Moles of Components per gram of compound : 0.0838 g /1g / 39 g/mol = 0.002149 mol /g

All moles divided by the lowest number of moles :

  • H2O : 0.00593 mol/g ==> 2.76
  • Oxalate (C2O42-) :   0.006465 mol/g ==> 3.00
  • Fen+ : 0.004308 mol/g   ===> 2.00
  • K+   : 1.00

Whole number ratio :

  • H2O : 3
  • Oxalate (C2O42-) : 3.00
  • Fen+ : 2.00
  • K+   : 1.00

Using mole ratio numbers , Chemical formula:

K [Fe2(C2O4)3].3H2O

There seems to be error in in your calculation for Fe , chemical formula of this compound shall be : K3[Fe(C2O4)3].3H2O

    In this experiment you will use an oxidation - reduction titration to determine the percent of oxalate ion, CO2 in an unknown sample containing oxalate ion. Potassium permanganate (KMnO.) will be titrated against the oxalic acid (C2H:08) as shown by the following oxidation-reduction reaction: +3 +7 5C,044 2MnO4 + 16H* → 10CO, 8H0 + 2Mn2 +4 + + Mno. Mn? is the reduction process C2042 → CO2 is the oxidation process The underlying principle behind a titration is that an...
