Given that,

Mean = 0.99 Liter

Standard Deviation = 0.04 liter

Sample size = N = 26

A) Confidence level = 97%

Z value for 97% CI = 2.17

Upper control limits = Mean + [Z x (SD / Sqrt(N))]

= 0.99 + [2.17 x (0.04 / Sqrt (26))]

= 1.0070

Lower control limits = Mean - [Z x (SD / Sqrt(N))]

= 0.99 - [2.17 x (0.04 / Sqrt (26))]

= 0.9730

B) Given that sample means are 1.005, 1001, 0.998, 1.002, 0.995 and 0.999

All the above value lie in the region of (0.9730, 1.0070)

Hence, the process is in control.
