Answer #1

Transporting 5000 dozen bottles of olive oil from Italy to USA/Oklahoma includes several steps. These are as noted below.

1. Transportation of the bottles to packing facility. 5,000 dozens = 5,000 x 12 = 60,000 nos. Let us assume the size of one bottle is 8 cm x 8 cm x 20 cm. Therefore, one bottle needs 1,280 cm^3 or 0.00128 m^3 to occupy. One 40ft shipping container has an internal volume of 67.5 m^33 and one 20ft container has an internal volume of 33.1 m^3. Therefore, we need one 40ft and one 20ft container for our purpose. The cost of these containers will go down our cost for transportation.

2. Packing the bottles in the containers.

3. Transportation of containers to the port.

4. Insurance costs (In the event any issues occur during the transit, you may get the risk covered with insurance).

5. Taxes / Duties / Customs Charges, both in Italy and in Oklahoma.

6. Storage / Demurrage charges at port.

7. Shipping charges.

Costs for all these need to be accounted while transporting the olive oil bottles from Italy to USA.

As per industrial standards in 2020, the cost for transporting a 40ft container from Italy (Civitavecchia) to Oklahoma/USA is approximately $2,151 and for a 20ft container, it is $1,441.

All the above referred costs also need to be along with this shipping cost for getting the total cost for transportation and for that, we need to refer to the costs at Italy and USA.
