Why is the term oxidative used in oxidative phosphorylation?
In the phosphorylation process the ATP is synthesized from the ADP
And this happens when the cells used in this process use different enzymes for the oxidation of nutrients.
This happens in the mitochondria mostly known as powerhouse of the cell
Here through aerobic respiration this process happens and for aerobic respiration we need oxygen
So due to these reasons we call it as oxidative phosphorylation.
