Your projectile launching system is partially jammed. It can only launch objects with an initial vertical velocity of 42.0 m/s, though the horizontal component of the velocity can vary. You need your projectile to land 217 m from its launch point. What horizontal velocity do you need to program into the system?

Answer #2

vertical motion,
v= u-gt
at max height v=0
0 = 42 - 9.81 * t
t = 4.28 s

total flight = 2t assuming no air resistance
let horizontal velocity be v

v * 2t = 217
v = 25.35 m/s ---answer
