Evaluate Google’s diversification into new products and businesses, with particular reference to (a) browsers (Chrome), (b) mobile phone operating systems (Android), (c) mobile devices (Motorola), and (d) driverless cars.

Search engine has always been the main service or product of the Google. The company began developing search technology in the year 1996, It was initially capitalized for this technology , but later on they diversified to variety of internet related products and services. They includes product and services such as Google Drive, Google News, Google Translate, and Google Maps, browsers (Chrome),mobile phone operating systems (Android),mobile devices (Motorola), driver-less cars etc. This varied product and service have enabled Google to corner diverse internet user and make them dependent for certain extent. These product of Google gave more benefits to user due to their user friendliness & hassle free transition using a single all-access account. Diversification is the effective business strategy of Google , it allowed the firm to create a new market opportunities and retain the existing customers.

Google Chrome:

It was launched in September 2008. Google introduced Chrome at the very good point of time: Software was moving to the cloud/ SaaS model with Google leading the way both in enterprise and consumer space & people stopped using small programs and switched to web apps. Chrome has 45% world wide usage share of web browsers. Chrome is very user friendly as compared to others and uses the space( as in single window) more efficiently. It is faster than other browsers due to its its rendering engine and JavaScript engine (V8). They also have the silent updates and it is opensource - these are the some features that made Chrome as huge success,

mobile phone operating systems (Android):

Android is the most successful mobile OS in the market today. Android Inc. was founded in California in October 2003 , in order to develop a smarter mobile device later in July 2005 it was acquired by Google. The reason for success of Android are- hardware diversity, it is opensource, interface: use touch interfaces & it allows the use of widgets, which display auto-updating information such as weather and email, Highly customizable user experience , it is flexible fast & stable etc.

mobile devices (Motorola):

On August 15, Google announced an agreement to acquire Motorola Mobility for 12,5 billions $. Google considered this deal as advantageous: because both the companies together will accelerate innovation & mobile computing, customer will get good phone at lower price. Motorola Mobilities parent portfolio will help to protect the Android ecosystem.

driver-less cars: Waymo , the driver-less or self driving car company run under Google's parent company Alphabet. This rely on radar, lidar, and cameras.
