Benzene is very stable compound because of aromatic nature of benzene ring. Due to the higher stability of benzene ring, it does not undergoes addition reaction like alkenes perhaps it undergoes electrophilc aromatic substitution reaction in the presence of catalyst

Therefore the false statement is "In the presence of a catalyst, benzene undergoes addition by bromine to give a dibromide product"
