Answer #1

Solution:

1) Answer: False

No, all the molecules of a gas, at a constant temperature, do not move with the same avearge speed. They move with different speeds( or average speeds).

2) Answer: True

Yes, the molecules in liquids, on avearge, are farther away from each than the molecules in solids.

3) Answer: True

Buoyant force is equal to the weight or proportional to the volume of the liquid displaced, when the object is submerged into the liquid. The volume of liquid displaced will be equal to the volume of the body immersed into the liquid. So, even though Styrofoam sphere and metal sphere, have the same volume, the volume of the Styrofoam sphere immersed is only 10% of its total volume and the metal sphere is completely immersed. So, the metal sphere displaces more water than the Styrofoam sphere. So, the buoyant force on Styrofoam sphere is smaller than that on the metal sphere.

4) Answer: False

When two bodies collide, they exert the same force on each other, which is Newton's Third Law.

So, the force exerted by truck on the bug is equal to the force exerted by the bug on the truck.
