Snell's law of refraction states that
ni/nr = sin r/ sin i
Here ni is the refractive index of the incident medium and nr is the refractive index of refracting medium. Also i is the incident angle and r is the angle of refraction.
Now here
a) the refractive index of fluorite is 1.434 and that of the air is 1. Here given that i = 450
Therefore 1/0.434 = sin r/sin 45
Sinr = sin2 = 0.697*0.707 = 0.493
Therefore 2 = sin-1 0. 493
2 = 29.540
b) the refractive index of crown glass is 1.52
Therefore 1/1.52 = sin2/ sin 45
sin2 = 0.658*0.707 = 0.465
Therefore 2 = 27.710
c) the refractive index of carbon tetra chloride is 1.461
Therefore 1/1.461 = sin2/sin 45
sin2 = 0.684*0.707 = 0.483
2 = 28.880
