It works with the nervous system and helps to maintain the homeostasis of the body.When there is increase or decrease of the hormones in the body the pituitary gland releases or stops the synthesis of particular hormone to maintain homeostasis. For instance if the body is experiencing elevated body temperature the nervous system carries message to the gland .They combine together to reduce body temperature by diaphoresis.

Somatotrophs are released by the pituitary gland in relation to the nervous system and maintain the metabolism of the body.
