Answer #1

Solution:

Given,

p = 1/2 = 0.5 (probability of boys)

1 - p = 1 - 0.5 = 0.5

n = 10

\therefore X follows the Binomial(10 , 0.5)

Using binomial probability formula ,

P(X = x) = (n C x) * px * (1 - p)n - x ; x = 0 ,1 , 2 , ....., n

Now ,

P[Exactly 4 boys]

= P(X = 4)

= (10 C 4) * 0.54 * (0.5)10 - 4

= 210 * 0.54 * (0.5)6

= 0.205

Answer is

OC. 0.205
