Answer #1

1. Weight of the woman = 130 lb = 130/22 = 59 kg

Height of the woman = 5 feet 2 inch = (5 x 30.48 ) + (2 x 2.54)

= 152.4 + 5.08 = 157.48 = 157.5 = 158 cm

BSA = \sqrt{} (Height in cm x Weight in kg)\div 3600

=\sqrt{}158 x 59 \div 3600

= \sqrt{} 9322 \div 3600

= \sqrt{} 2.58 = \sqrt{} 2.6 = 1.6 m2

2. BSA = 2.12 meter square

Recommended dose = 20 mg/m2

Dosage for the given patient = 2.12 x 20 = 42.4 mg

3. (w/v)% of solution = 2 %

Grams of solute = a

Volume of solution = 2 l = 2 x 1000 = 2000 ml

( w/v ) % = (Grams of solute \div Volume of solution )x 100

2 =( a \div 2000 ml )x 100

a = (2000 x 2 )\div 100 = 40g

Grams needed to make 2 L of a 2 % solution = 40 g

4.( w/v ) % = a

Volume of the solution = 750 ml

Grams of solute = 30 g

( w/v ) % = (Grams of solute \div Volume of solution )x 100

= (30 g \div 750) x 100

= 4 %

Percentage concentration made = 4 %

5.Amount of given NaCl = a

Volume of the solute = 1500 ml

(w/v) % = 0.9 % NS

( w/v ) % = (Grams of solute \div Volume of solution )x 100

0.9 =( a \div 1500) x 100

a = 13.5 grams

Amount of NaCl in 1500 ml of 0.9 % NS = 13.5 grams
