The nature of dependent variable decide which method should be choose , In simple linear regression dependent variable should be continues but in case of logistic regression the dependent variable should be binary in nature.

It is Hoshmer lemshow test which is used to test the goodness of fit of the model , a p-value (e.g. Pr > ChiSq). Small p-values mean that the model is a poor fit that is in this case we are considering H0 that model is good fit.
