Average service rate, μ = 8 per hour

The average number waiting, Lq = λ2 / {μ.(μ - λ)} = (4^2)/(8*(8 - 4)) = 0.50

(b)

The average number in the shop, Ls = Lq + λ/μ = 0.50 + 4/8 = 1.0

(c)

The average time in the queue, Wq = Lq / λ = 0.5/4 = 0.125 hours = 7.5 minutes

(d)

The total time in the shop, Ws = Ls / λ = 1/4 = 0.25 hours = 15 minutes

(e)

The percentage of time busy = λ/μ = 4/8 = 0.5 or 50%
