2. How have the concepts in the course helped you make sense of/understand the current situation in the US related to race/ethnicity? (There's a lot to choose from: Covid-related anti-Asian hate crimes, race-based inequality in policing and sentencing, Black Lives Matters, Confederate flag/statue/name issues (Mississippi state flag, NASCAR bans, military base names), kneeling during anthems, Native American names/logos and sports, anti-semitism, and much, much more). This question is asking you to tie the course to current events (again, race/ethnicity related). |
From the last few days, the United States of America people are protesting against the country's government. As we all know, the COVID-19 pandemic is still there, and it is a critical situation for humans to go out during this time. However, people of the United States of America are protesting, saying Black Lives Matters during this situation is a severe issue. It is the reason that the United States of America is having the maximum number of COVID-19 positive cases globally. The main motive behind these things is to increase black people's value in the world's eyes. The protests were a person named George Floyd, who was killed by the USA cops, which led people of the country to come to the roads and created a mess around the whole country. Undoubtedly, the economy of the country is also suffering from these things. The result was that more than 30 people died during this riot and protest, and more than 14000 people were arrested. The whole country was suffering from the protest, and it was chaos. The government should take strict actions against those who were damaging public properties and sort things out as soon as possible.
