Standard deviation is measure of variation which gives amount of variation or dispersion of values from the mean. Low standard deviation means that values are close to the mean, high standard deviation indicates that values are away from the mean of data or they are spread in wider range.

More the standard deviation, more the values are dispersed, hence the normal curve would be more dispersed for a larger standard deviation. The values of N(75,8) will be more dispersed/spreaded around its mean 75 than the values of N(200,4) around its mean 200.
