When the negatively charged rod is brought near to spheres, the part of first sphere near the rod becomes positive and the other part of first sphere becomes negative due to induction. Now as the both spheres are in direct contact, the negative charges of first sphere is transferred to the second sphere due to conduction and second sphere becomes negative.
