Plane mirror is not used as a security mirror because:

  • Plane mirror has a smaller field of view compared to other mirrors. That is, only a small region or section could be kept under surveillance.
  • It shows objects with their original size. Therefore, a limited number of persons or objects can only be shown at a time.
  • Therefore, for a larger area to be seen through the mirror, the size of the mirror has to be considerably large enough; which makes it costly and difficult to install.

Usually, a convex mirror is used as a security mirror.
