Hii ,

in the fisr question the answer is BH3-THF the cause being it has no effects directly on ketone and can reduce the carboxylic acid being used to convert into primary alcohol.

Lialh4 and dibal both can reduce ketone and carboxylic acid to the respective alcohol groups .

H2-pd will convert the compound into a pure hydrocarbon ,means ketone and carboxylic acid will be converted into respective hydrocarbons .

2)5-methyl -3-heptanone

the numbering of carbon will start from the righmost hand as it being near to main functional group (ketone) the main functional group is at position 3 and the longest chain formed with 7carbons so heaptane root word, and methyl substitute a t5th psoiton ,thus 5methyl-3-heptanone.
