The COVID-19 pandemic is presenting unprecedented challenges for all of us in our daily life from food to earnings and from education to transportation.

The Government of Ghana has discovered "setbacks in the creation of the significant food crops, therefore altogether influencing food and nourishment security in the nation".So, the Government of Ghana has intervened assuring the upgradation of the food industries and provide nutrition security to the citizens of Ghana.

For this Government of Ghana has evaluated the environment, science, technology and brought various innovations towards placing measures to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 on food and nutrition while creating the Value of every money spent to overcome the effect of pandemic.

The country is expected to lose around 30% of its production due to the pandemic, so it has taken steps to keep the food availability to every section of population.

Looking at the nutrition emergency and assessment of various food risks, it stopped stocking of the food by the private corporations and individuals in the country.

The Local food production is provided support towards the technical skills and upgraded technologies to process diverse nutritious food products and improves food production.

The HQCF (high quality cassava flour) for making kokonte, a meal item which is regularly consumed, agblema made from cassava dough. The bakery and pastry products industries are taken care. The textile and paper industries also benefited by Industrial cassava flour.

Other food items undertaken for the improvement are maize, rice, soya beans, and groundnuts.

The fruits industries are introduced with technologies on pre-cooked yam chips and chunks, fruit cocktail drinks and juices of pineapple and other fruits like orange, mango, pawpa and lemon grass.

The innovation like rice parboiling technology has been developed and transferred to people of northern Ghana to grow rice.

The above details about the steps taken by Government of Ghana are well capable of improving the food and nutrition security of the people of Ghana.
