sample proportion p1^ = x1/n1 = 45/137 = 0.3285

p2^ = 58/151 = 0.3841

p = (x1+x2)/(n1+n2) = (45+58)/(137+151) = 0.3576

Ho : p1-p2 = 0

Ha : pi1-p2 < 0

test statistic z = (p1-p2)/sqrt(pq(1/n1+1/n2))

substitute values

= (0.3285 - 0.3841)/sqrt(0.3576(1-0.3576)(1/137 + 1/151))

= - 0.98

P value = 0.1635431 [since from z table]

= 0.1635

Here p value > alpha, so we fail to reject Ho.

So there is no sufficient evidence to support the claim.
