What are your thoughts on the effectiveness of a strike?

A strikeis the refusal to work by employees acting with a common purpose.

The usual intention of a strikeis to compel the employer to agree to terms and conditions of employment.

• The strike conducted by the employees can generally exert a huge pressure on the employer and organization. Their refusal to work may ultimately results in lesser production, money lose and customer lose, thereby bringing the employers to accept the conditions put forward and disputing the strike in an effective manner.
• For genuine reasons if all the employees are standing united, they maybe achieving their terms and conditions which are put forward by them.
• In case of any denial of basic rights of the employee in work place like duration of work hours, working conditions, casual or  sick leaves the strike may end by  achieving it.
• Under huge pressure by the employees and the subsequent media attention, the employers are left with no other options rather than coming to the conclusion of the strike by making mutually acceptable terms and conditions.
