A log anchor is a wooden, concrete, or metal bar buried in earth to hold the guy wire. As it is attached to the guy wire so it must able to withstand the maximum tensile load offered by the guy wire and also the active load provided by the wind.

The main problem associated with the log anchor made up of oak is that it is vulnerable to termites that means the anchor strength deteriorates with time.

Another reason is that during strom the wind flows at a very high speed so the active load provided by the wind at this time is very high and it might possible that the log anchor may broke down due to this heavy load which may cause the transmission tower to bent .
