The relative importance of leadership is that it is made up of three key parts. The first one would be achieving excellence in performance throughout the entire organization. Having a strong leadership enables organizations to not only have a good business structure and model, but also encourage employees in the right way to achieve this type of excellent performance. The second one is having core values and concepts displayed throughout the organization, and leadership can help achieve this by setting an example and guiding employees on the right track. The third is guidelines when responding to certain criteria. Leadership of all levels have importance in this by creating a supportive environment for problem solving and making it clear about the problem and they are trying to address and solve. Leading for innovation starts by setting a clear direction. Leaders need to communicate about the problems or opportunities the organization is trying to address, and then create a supportive environment and clear process that will encourage and approve intelligent risk taking. They focus on doing the right thing for the right reason and anyone can be a leader throughout the organization, it is seen more as a mentality.

In the video it states at St. Lukes Hospital describing leadership in that anyone who invokes the leadership mentality in that whether it be a nurse, doctor etc. if someone needs assistance, they will drop what they are doing and do their personal best to help them. A leader can be anyone who is demonstrating strong leadership qualities in any shape or form. From Boeing, Baptist and St. Luke’s Hospitals, Stoner Inc. they all focus primarily that everyone in the organization is a leader.

The leadership team functions at Stoner, Inc. the entire company was at the sales meeting because everyone at Stoner, Inc. is a leader. They believe in work leaders who are very active in the business and have six functional teams. These teams are responsible for an area of the company and have weekly meetings to review results and progress that has been made. This allows for all leaders to communicate effectively and share ideas that will benefit the company. They follow a leadership model and it is the Business Excellence model and each employee knows what is expected of them and how they should conduct themselves.

The Business Excellence Model at Caterpillar Financial Services set personal goals for the employees to have them align them with the company’s strategic planning objectives. They also focus on the interpersonal relationships of employees in which they focus the value they place on their employees. They are dependent on their employees to carry out their business in the best way possible because they do not have any patents or intangible that are of worth. The CEO host a birthday breakfast once a month to celebrate all their current employees. The Human Resource focus involves training in which they are taught how to use a computer program in which employees can track their personal goals and this extra training is a result of their success.
