“sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me”.
Given the nature of the internet and social media- are we now at a point where words are worse than stick and stones? The phenomenon of online bullying is what I am thinking about here? Any thoughts on how the internet and social media may have shifted things?
This is a question please relate to this phrase which i mention above it
thanks (pls give answer ASAP)
Technology has changed the way people view themselves and others. The increased amount of exposure to the social media has made people present themselves in order to win the approval of others. This would mean that there are likes and dislikes which influence and impact people’s thoughts, feelings, emotions and future behaviour. Bullying online has become a regular thing which people need not take it seriously. Only those who have low self-esteem and those who want the approval of others in order to lead a happy life would take them seriously. As the saying goes, barking dogs seldom bite, these criticisms or rather meaningless bullying is either the result of jealousy or those who make such degrading comments are cowards. It’s like dogs barking at the sun and thus words wouldn’t harm one unless one takes it seriously. Thus, it’s true that sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me.
