Where will music be in the future? Think of the type of music you listen to. Care to predict on how it might evolve? In 1940 were there hints rock and roll might be coming? In 1970 were there hints that rap could enter the scene? Do past trends help to predict the future? Ponder the change of demographics in the United States and in the world for that matter. Is it in the realm that we could be listening to Chinese music in the year 2100? Will culture/cultural identity be relevant (is music such an international language that nationalism, etc. doesn’t enter in to it so much?
Music is the universal language and even those who do not understand the lyrics would be enjoy music. Although there are several music that are specific to the culture and geographical location, globalization helped people take their music to all the places they travelled to live and work. Thus, people were exposed to various forms of music in various languages that opened up a whole new world of music to many people. It’s very obvious that today music is undergoing a global revolution in which music composers and singers adopt various styles from all over the world to create fusion music that would be appealing to many audiences all over the world. This would mean that countries where multiculturalism exists, people would listen to other music and appreciate them.
