Answer:

Given Data

The number of ways of selecting 2 envelopes from 8 is

\binom{8}{2}=28

The number of ways of selecting 2 envelopes with 2 red cards is

\binom{4}{2}=12

The probability that the envelopes have red cards is \frac{12}{28}=\frac{3}{7}

The number of ways of selecting 2 envelopes with 2 green cards is

\binom{2}{2}=1

The number of ways of selecting 2 envelopes with 2 blue cards is

\binom{2}{2}=1

the probability that they have cards of the same colors is

\frac{12+1+1}{28}=\frac{1}{2}
