this a question for the myob accounting software. - what is the difference between the spend money function and general journal function? do i record wages expense, fuel expense, bank fees, advertising under general journal or spend money? all paid with cash using the cheque account.

Answer) General Journal : "Genneral Journal refers to the books of original entries. In which raw business transaction can be recorded in order according to the date of event/ transaction occur. For Example Fixed asset purchased on credit, Adjustment Entries and Closing Entries etc.

Spend Money: Spend money voucher is used where any transaction involves Cash or Bank Account. Any exepnses paid by cash or Bank A/c or other transaction related to cash or Bank.

Advise : So it is better to use spend money voucher if your are paying expenses through cash and bank account. And If you are not paying through cash or bank and creating payable account against that expenses you can use general journal.
