Answer #1
Product Calories (X) Sugar (Y) X-X̄=a Y-Ȳ=b a x b
A 210 9 -138.57 -5.54 767.6778
B 220 5 -128.57 -9.54 1226.5578
C 250 14.7 -98.57 0.16 -15.7712
D 350 21 1.43 6.46 9.2378
E 360 11.7 11.43 -2.84 -32.4612
F 520 21.4 171.43 6.86 1176.0098
G 530 19 181.43 4.46 809.1778
TOTAL 2440 101.8 0.01 19.2956 3940.4286

= ΣΧ/ΝΟ.OFPRODUCT

= 2440 / 7

X̄  = 348.57

Ȳ = Y/NO.OF PRODUCT

Ȳ = 101.8 / 7

Ȳ = 14.54

Covariance = Σα και ο no.ofproduct

Covariance = 3940.4286 7

Covariance = 562.918 (aaprox)

Positive covariance indicates that Calories and sugars moves in same direction that means more calories more sugar in product

Note : if in above qus. given info is sample then the formula would be Σα και ο no.ofproduct – 1 then answer would be 656.738 , but i assume here it is population.
