In order to find the age of the earth the scientists used a method of relative dating which involves placing the events in a sequence which are not exact in a sense and used to fidn age of the rocks on earth. It is based on certain principles or rules on of which is the principle or law of superposition which states that if the sedimentary rocks are left undisturbed then the oldest starta will be at the bottom and the youngest one would settle at the top hence the oldest strata will be at the bottom of soil sequence . Hence option d is correct (Law of superposition)
