How do you find a conjugate base or conjugate acid? For example, what its the congigate base of H2PO4-? Also, how would you find the congugate acid? Please explain simply, for some reason this topic is very confusing to me.

conjugate base is obtained by removing H+

So, conjugate base of H2PO4- is HPO42-

because we removes H+ from H2PO4-

number of H decreased from 2 to 1

as we also removes 1 positive charge, one negative charge got added on the molecule

conjugate acid is obtained by adding H+

So, conjugate acid of H2PO4- is H3PO4

because we add H+ to H2PO4-

number of H increased from 2 to 3

as we also add 1 positive charge, one positive charge got added on the molecule
