How many liters of chlorine would you need if you wanted 31.90 g of chlorine?

Express the volume in liters to four significant digits.

Gaseous hydrogen has a density of 0.0899 g/L at 0∘C, and gaseous chlorine has a density of 3.214 g/L at the same temperature.

VCl = L

Answer #1

pV = nRT

Let's find the amount of chlorine gas using formula : n = m/M , n = 31.90 g / 35.45 g/ mol

n = 0.89 mol

Now rearrange the gas equation

V = n*R*T/p

R is constant, = 0.08205 L atm/K*mol

V = (0.89 mol * (0.08205 L atm/K*mol) * 298 K)/1atm

V = 21.76 L
