1. Imagine that you are the health care provider seeing a patient that is having a glucose tolerance test performed. What questions would you ask your patient before drawing a blood sample and initiating the test, to insure that the glucose tolerance test will proceed as it should?

2. Describe all of the information you would require as a clinician, in order to make a determination regarding a patient's DM diagnosis.

Ans. - as a health care provider I will ask following questions

• Patient age - which gives basic ideas about illness effects
• Weight - because less than 43 kg weight will give false glucose tolerance test (GTT) result, we can not give full dose to the patient less than 43 kg.
• Is the patient is in fasting or not - because GTT is perform fasting state of the body only.
• At what time he/she took food - specially carbohydrates rich rich diet, because patient should empty stomach or at fasting state atleast 8 to 10 hours before test.
• If a patient is female she is pregnant or not.
• Whether a patient have cardiovascular disorder or other body disorder or not because that will affect the test and patient illness too.
• Is there any family history of DM or not
• GTT test is first time or repeated one- because once GTT test done then after 3 or 4 months this test should be perform.
• Is the patient is skin allergic or not.
