Here, we have to use paired t test.

Null hypothesis: H0: In class activities do not significantly improved students’ learning compared to traditional lecture only teaching method.

Alternative hypothesis: Ha: In class activities significantly improved students’ learning compared to traditional lecture only teaching method.

H0: µd = 0 versus Ha: µd > 0

Part 2

Test statistic for paired t test is given as below:

t = (Dbar - µd)/[Sd/sqrt(n)]

From given data, we have

Dbar = 5.6

Sd = 5.18

n = 10

df = n – 1 = 9

We assume α = 0.05

t = (5.6 – 0) / [5.18/sqrt(10)]

t = 3.4187

Part 3

From above test statistic, we have

P-value = 0.0038

(by using t-table)

P-value < α = 0.05

So, we reject the null hypothesis

There is sufficient evidence to conclude that in-class activities significantly improved students’ learning compared to traditional lecture only teaching method.
