1. Molecular equation : Mg + 2 HCl \rightarrow MgCl2 + H2(g)

2. Total Ionic Equation :Add we must account water molecules in the hydronium too.

Mg + 2 H3O + 2 Cl-  \rightarrow  MgCl2 + H2(g) + 2H2O

Mg + 2 H3O + 2 Cl-   \rightarrow Mg+2 + 2 Cl- + H2 + 2H2O

Cl- does not change.

Mg + 2 H3O \rightarrow Mg+2  + H2 +  2H2O      

We do not use Hydronium ions.

  Mg + 2 H+ + 2 Cl-  \rightarrow Mg+2  + 2 Cl- + H2 : Ionic equation

Mg + 2 H+   \rightarrow Mg+2  + H2 : Net Ionic equation
