For those solutions you identified as being weak acids or bases, write the cormesponding equilibrium chemical equation for each that describes how it eath acts lke an acid or base Solutiens 3. Based on the solubility rales, both N OH and NaCM,O, are strong electrolytes in solution. However, your cenductivity data shaws that there appears to be a lower concentration of ions associated with the NaCzH,O olution. Give a possible explanation of why this is so based on your answers given in question 2. 518)

Answer #1

Answer 2: 0.01M AcOH, 0.01M NH4Cl, 0.01M NH3 are assigned here as weak electrolytes, of which,

Weak Acids: 0.01M AcOH, 0.01M NH4Cl.

Weak Bases: 0.01M NH3.

Corresponding equilibrium chemical quation is,

1) AcOH + H2O \rightleftharpoons AcO- (aq) + H3O+ (aq)

2) NH4Cl (aq) \rightarrow Cl- (aq) NH4+ (aq)

NH4+ + H2O \rightleftharpoons NH3 + H3O+ (aq)

3) NH3 + H2O \rightleftharpoons NH4+ (aq) + HO-.
