Answer #1

Since both the arms make an angle of 70 with the horizintal, they make an angle of 30 with the vertical in which mg is acting.

m=98 kg

So T= mg*Cos20=902.48N (in both the arms)

    An object of mass -20 kg is lifted by a standard man with the aid of a pulley, as shown in the figure below. The upper arm is held vertical and the lower arm has an angle of θ·33° with the horizontal. The label c.m. marks the centre of mass of the lower arm. Consider the force due to the weight of the object M, the weight of the lower arm and hand, the tension due to the triceps muscle,...

    A man is holding a 19-kg child using both hands with his elbows bent in a 90∘ angle. The biceps muscle provides the positive torque he needs to support the child. Determine the force that each of his biceps muscles must exert on the forearm in order to hold the child safely in this position. Ignore the triceps muscle and the mass of the arm. Let the child be l = 0.35 m from the elbow joint, and the biceps...

    A standard man holds the upper arm vertical and the lower arm horizontal with an object of mass M = 5 kg resting on the hand, as illustrated in the figure. The mass of the lower arm and hand is one-half the mass of the entire arm. As shown in the figure, there are four forces acting on the lower arm: the force Fexerted by the bones and ligaments of the upper arm at the elbow (fulcrum), the tension T...

    15-37. A man wearing ice skates throws an 8-kg block with an initial velocity of 2 m/s, measured relative to himself, in the direction shown. If he is originally at rest and completes the throw in 1.5 s while keeping his legs rigid, determine the horizontal velocity of the man just after releasing the block. What is the vertical reaction of both his skates on the ice during the throw? The man has a mass of 70 kg. Neglect friction...
