Business Chosen is Walmart under Retail

1. Walmart is an American multinational retail corporation that operates the business in hypermarkets, supermarkets, selling groceries, electronics, clothing, footwear, etc. Walmart is widespread worldwide with more than 11,000 stores. It is renowned for its operations and is known to almost everyone. The reason for choosing is its success and adaptability over time, acquiring different companies like Vudu, Flipkart in India for $16 billion. It has been strategic in its change over time and that is the reason they are on the top of Fortune 500 companies

Walmart changes its form over time and also its name from Walton's to Walmart Inc to Walmart Stores and now different subsidiaries like Sam's Club, Neighborhood Market, Walmart Supercenter, etc. Founded by Sam Walton to sell products at low prices for higher volumes by taking up Ben Franklin Stores around 1945. The first Walmart Discount City store was opened in 1962 in Rogers, Arkansas. Since then the company has only grown serving multiple households all over the world. Its efficient supply chain that keeps the cost low is read in most B-schools as a case study. Their state of the art technology has also kept them top-notch.

3. Walmart believes in value-based price with its USP being Everyday Low Price, continuing that, it sells Electronics, Movies and music, clothing, home furniture, jewelry, health and beauty products, pet supplies, grocery, etc through various channels like hypermarkets, supermarkets, discount store, a membership-only store like Sam's Club and also through eCommerce. These products are from popular brands and also from Walmart brands like Sam's Choice, Great Value, Equate, etc

4. Walmart stocks are mainly held by Walton family and Enterprises LLC with other major ownership from the Vanguard Group, State Street Corporation, etc. It is traded in NYSE as WMT. Other shareholders are Bank of America, Bank of New York Mellon, Northern Trust. The company is handled by an 11 board of directors elected annually by shareholders. Gregory B Penner is the Chairman of the board and Doug McMillon serves as the President and CEO.
