Question

Large and heavy products require a range of material handling systems to move the products through the various stages of production. This normally incorporates large lifting equipment, conveyor systems and specialised transfer devices to move the products from one handling system to another One such device commonly found in paper-mills is the V-link transfer station, designed to move large, heavy rolls of paper from a conveyor system to a fork lift truck. A few examples are shown below. DESIGN BRIEF:- Working as structural/mechanical engineers, design a V-link transfer system for the following application The paper rolls, shown in the figure below, are 0.9 m OD x 0.22m ID x 3.23 m long and have a density of 984 kg/m. The rolls are transferred from the machine conveyor (not shown) to the forklift truck by the Vlinkage of the off-loading system, which is rotated through 90 by an air cylinder. The paper then rolls onto the waiting forks of the truck. Vlink arm paper rolling machine forks rod off-loading station air cvlinder fork lidfi truck
