i dont understand the scale of atoms compared to a unit cell

she claims using the picture on the left that accross the diagonal of the box there are 4 atomic radii then she uses that to calculate the atomic radii Determine the radius of a Pb atom and the density of Pb suggesting that they are litterally all touching. like theres no space between them at all is this a more realistic picture of what lead actually look like or is this because i assume its the red line. and if it is how could she use the unit cell on the left to calculate size if atoms arent reallv that size
