Question about protection, security, and ethic in OS:

Take for example the Windows 10 Operating System which proposed (and used) forced updates. What are the reasons for a user to not want forced updates? What are the ethical implications of the shared update structure of Windows 10 (users download small pieces of updates from any other Windows 10 user, similar to torrent and le sharing software)? Who is liable in the event of a security breach? What are the reasons updates are necessary for user?

1 .

Not everyone wants to upgrade to Windows 10. As the pace of the updates shows, there are plenty of people who are more than happy with Windows 7 , 8 or 8.1, and who don’t want to switch to the new OS.

While some people are simply delaying the upgrade, plenty of other users have no interest at all in Windows 10, and are actively taking steps to avoid it.But "no" doesn’t mean "no" to Microsoft. It apparently means "Yes, I want to upgrade"! LOL.

There are people who are trying to block the Windows 10 update using tools like GWX Control Panel or Closing the update services or someother method - Bad news for them , the update just will not go away.

Microsoft doesn't change the name of the update, but every version is new, with new binary files which makes it even harder to block.

2.

Microsoft allows users to manually download new patches/Updates as they are available through "Microsoft Update Catalog" website. You can use the Update Catalog to quickly download a new update if it's not showing for you in Windows Update as an alternative option.

The easiest way to find an update is knowing its Knowledge Base reference number. For example, on Microsoft released Windows 10 build 14393.321, which Knowledge Base reference was KB3194798.   Search for the update using the KB number for the update you want. For example, KB3194798

Click the Download button for the 64-bit or 32-bit version of the update. If you don't know your system type, do the following:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Click on System.
  3. Click on About.
  4. See System type.

Settings Home Windows 10 Find a setting System PC name DESKTOP-O4EINCH Rename PC Display Apps & features Default apps E Organ

How to install cumulative updates ?

Simply double-click the .msu file to install a new update for Windows 10.

3.

Who is responsible for the breach?

Liability for security vulnerabilities and exploits isn't easy to assign, according to the Information Security survey. Was asked who should be held most responsible for security incidents, giving survey respondents six choices:

  • Hardware/Software Developers
  • Service Providers
  • Deploying Organization
  • Users
  • Perpetrators/Attackers
  • Other

Not surprisingly, respondents assigned the most responsibility to perpetrators of the incident (30 percent)--the hackers, crackers and script-kiddies who exploit an identified flaw (see Figure 4). But those surveyed weren't shy about spreading the blame around. Runners-up in the blame game were developers (25 percent) and users (22 percent). The deploying organization and service providers got off relatively lightly, with 14 percent and 8 percent of the responsibility, respectively.

Security is everyone's job....

4.

Users have to update to W10 coz , its much better than its predecessors ..

Best things are

Speed - Too good

The Start Menu - Completely modified and user friendly

Cortana - Competes with Apple Siri

Universal Apps - New feature which lets u try apps before Downloading

A Better Browser - Internet Edge

Security - Windows Defender Keeps Improving with Every Single Update.

So i think user should keep Updating and not try to Stop the Forced updates.
I Understand its not good Plan/ Move from Microsoft ,. But Can't help.
